Get a QuoteWebMay 10, 2012 · Some here recently removed the front cab mounts loosened the rear cab mounts and transmission mount then raised the front 8 inches and then lifted the engine just enough to remove the pan. You don't have to remove everything to get the engine out. No need to discount wires etc. If/when I have to replace mine that is what I am going to do.

Get a QuoteWebMay 26, 2007 · Unbolt the engine mounts, and jack the back of the engine until the turbo just hits the firewall and undo and separate the pan and remove the pick-up tube from the front and pull the pan out. Clean everything well, use the proper 7.3 silicone and put it all back together (make sure the pick-up tube gasket is in place).

Get a QuoteWebYou may be able to just lift, remove motor mounts, unbolt the pan and get enough clearance (1" should be more than enough) to clean the surfaces off and use some Permatex 1-minute-gasket to make a new gasket. You might be able to wiggle a rubber gasket up around it, but that would be really hard.

I have done the oil pan on cars where there was no gasket and just RTV successfully with the motor installed. No way would I cut the cross member out on my truck to experiment. Wash the pan with soap and water and let dry. Brush the anti-corrosion coating on the oil pan. Allow coating to dry fully before operating the vehicle.-----
