WebRegular formula spitfires and bones will wear down like any other wheel. As far as 147 or 148, 148 is exactly made for 8.25 boards. 147 is better for 8.125 or 8.0 sizes but they can be put on larger boards. I have indy 144 on one deck (i love them), and some 148s on another (Also good but im not a tech guy atm).

Plus/minus .25" works for most people as a ratio. A simpler answer is, get an 8.25" truck. The 4 most popular brands are Indy, Venture, Thunder, Ace. All are good. I favor Venture and Ace.

WebMOST truck companies make sizes between 8 and 8.5: Tensor, Silver, Ace, Mini Logo, Theeve all have sizes between 8 and 8.5. Most of them actually have TWO sizes in there - 8.125 and 8.375. That said, on an 8.25" deck I prefer the 8.5 trucks over any of those other sizes. Theeve is terrible, don't buy their stuff, imo.

WebIndependent has released the 144 line for exact width match if you like. They work as the goldilocks truck for 8.25 and give you wiggle room to set up boards from 8.0 to 8.5, no sweat.
